Not at all focused.

February 24, 2009 at 7:39 pm (Uncategorized)

So I’m trying to think about what to blog about this week, right?

When really…all I can think about is my birthday, the big 2-1 whoop! whoop! That’s the only thing really going on in my head this week, not gonna lie.

It seems my professors decided to slam in two test this week. I mean don’t have them on the weeks I don’t have a birthday. That would be too easy. Put them on the one week out the whole year I do.

So anyways, I have decided, since in my last blog I wanted to get involved, I will pull through and go the “career fair” that’s going on Thursday- My actual birthday- but whatever, I need to lock it up! I hope I can find some job opportunities. Really, I want to study abroad one semester before I graduate, but I mean I only have three semesters left, so I should probably get on that. Anyone have any ideas that I should think about when it comes to studying abroad?

Wish me luck on my reporting midterm this week! And 2 more days till I’m legal!!

Socially Crazy Orange.

February 23, 2009 at 7:21 pm (Uncategorized)

In class recently we have started creating  a Web site called “Socially Orange”. I love it and think it’s an awesome idea concerning Journalism students.

This class has already taught me so much about communication, it’s insane. I hope that more people start joining this site so that we have more people to relate to and talk to when it comes to social media.

And we also have been talking about Cindy Morrison and her thought on social media. I actually have met her too. I work at In the Raw in Tulsa and she comes in all the time. I said I was a Public Relations major and then we started talking about her job and stuff. She is a really nice person, who really love her job.

Overall, I am looking forward to seeing how this site turns out. I joined it today, so we’ll see!!

Getting Involved.

February 23, 2009 at 7:16 pm (Uncategorized)

I’m just now getting around to writing last weeks blog, sorry ya’ll.

Now that I’ve gotten the feel of OSU and campus, since this is my second semester, I’ve decided to get around to joining some clubs. The problem with that was that I didn’t have a recent resume ready and couldn’t join JB Embassadors this semester.

My goal for next semester is to definitely get involved in some clubs because it really does help with connections. I am in a reporting class right now concerning a “beat” we have to write about every week, and just from seeing how involved people are in this club, I really should join something. I was really bummed that I didn’t have my resume ready last week, because now I can’t join the Embassadors. Oh well, next semester.

Another interest I was thinking about was PRSSA. Being in Public Relations, I think this would be a good opportunity. If anyone has anything concerning this club that I should know about that would be awesome. Who all’s going to the “Career Fair”  this Thursday?

So I haven’t really started tweeting more, like we’re suppose to, but I’ll get around to it. I like that I’m not the only person who doesn’t really know what’s going. Bill was asking people in class last Thursday if there was more then 100 people following some, and some kept their hands up! Wow, I need to get on the train.

Now, we’re suppose to start thiking of themes or whatever for this new page we’re going to create Tuesday. I didn’t really understand, he kind of explained it fast. All I know is we’re suppose to be talking to more people. This is social media, and that’s what we do in this class. I’ve never been so socially connected in my life.

I’m excited to see what this assignment brings to the table. Networking, it’s all about networking!

Just My Luck.

February 11, 2009 at 11:28 pm (Uncategorized)

So I have yet again been sick for another day. Apparently everyone’s been getting sick and I haven’t even heard of it until it hits me. I have had a sore throat and aching body for the past three days. I went out of town last weekend and felt perfect. Of course, when I have a crap load of homework, I would get sick. Like I said, “just my luck.” So I’m writing this in the library, trying to make this as exciting as possible, when really this whole week I’ve been in bed or taking cover from the stupid tornadoes that randomly happened yesterday. Oh, and if you think it’s bad being sick during the busiest week ever for me, try having your computer get a virus?? What the heck? Apparently I got my computer sick…how ironic? I have to buy this antivirus thing that cost like 40 dollar. If anyone has anything cheaper for computers with viruses hit me up! Because as a poor college student 40 dollars it a lot of cash.

Anyways, I shouldn’t be complaining. There’s a lot more serious stuff going on in the world then me getting sick. But that’s about all that’s going on in my life right now.

On a positive note: I turn 21 in 2 weeks!!! Maybe the life of Stillwater won’t be so bad after all. Haha!

Social Media!

February 7, 2009 at 12:06 am (Uncategorized)

Earlier this week, Bill said we had to now start following up to 100 people on twitter. I need to get on that because I feel like no really knows me on twitter. Ha, oh well, I think I can change that by the end of the semester. I’m excited for the fact that we are the first social media class at OSU.

Class on Thursday was a speaker talking about social media and networking. I actually enjoyed a lot of what she was saying. What really stuck with me was how passionate she is about helping others with the food organization she is involved in.

You can always tell if a person enjoys life just by the way they talk. She really likes what she is doing in life. You are what you do, and what she does compliments everything she is all about. I would love to get involved with people who are in need. It would be so rewarding to know you are making a difference like that. Knowing there are people in the world getting up as early as 7 o’clock to feed the poor is awesome. There is no money included…it’s all love. We need more of them in the world. I was actually thinking about volunteering at that next event they are hosting.

Also, I love the fact that she is working on a vintage store. I love vintage!

I hate headaches…

February 5, 2009 at 4:47 am (Uncategorized)

As a student we all have stress, anxiety and just plan old headaches. Try having chronic migraines as a college student. I woke up with one today and still had to go school. Going to TCC, I really didn’t have as big of a stress level because there’s only so much you can stress about, ya know? These two semesters-coming in as a freshman/junior- the adjustment has played a tole with my headaches.

I have been diagnosed with chronic migraines for about 3 years. It might be 4 years now, anyways, it has been such a distraction to my every day life. I use to get into so much trouble at work when I would tell my boss I needed to leave early because I was getting a migraine. She’d be like..and you can’t work? NOPE. I can’t do poop when I get them. So at least when I was at work I could control staying and going. As for school, it’s hard, let me tell ya.

This morning I woke up thinking I was going to get so much done…that was a negative. The medicine I am now on is Zomig and Imitrex. I’ve tried at least five different kinds of drugs…even botox. That actually worked, but was 3,000 dollars an injection, so that didn’t  last long. I’m sure all of ya’ll have heard of Imitrex, surprisingly it’s pretty legit. But the Zomig makes me feel hungover. Once I take it, I’m gone. I end up throwing up and not eating the whole day because of how strong that stuff is. I left school early today because I just couldn’t take it. I was very disappointed when I had to take it this morning. I wanted to do something with my life today but sometimes it’s not up to you, it’s up to the migraine.

Juggling school and migraines sucks. If you have migraines feel free to hit me up and we can vent about how painful these things are. And if you have any suggestions of how you handle it, please tell me. For those who don’t have migraines…you’re lucky.
